When: Sat. October 23rd
8:00 AM (meet at St Henry for an 8:15 departure)
Father Ryan Rugby team to meet at the home or at St Henry

Work to be completed: Cutting overgrown shrubs and cleaning sidewalks and driveway so the homeowner can get a wheel chair from the car to inside the home.

Where: 1433 Stainback Ave. Nashville 37207 – Trinity Lane area
It is about a 30 minute drive from St Henry. Some people will be car pooling from St Henry church and will depart at 8:00 AM and will return to St Henry between 12:00 and 1:00.

Get permission slip here.

What to bring: Gardening gloves. If you can we also need rakes, brooms and shovels

Background information: Mr. Ed Johnson (brother of Fr Mike) has a client with an incredibly urgent need that he is trying to help. She is an elderly lady who has just had both legs amputated and is anguished about having to live out her remaining days in a subsistence nursing home. If we can make some improvements on her house she will be able to move back there, which is her fervent desire. We will be working with Charitable Constructors who will be making repairs to the home to enable the homeowner to get her wheelchair inside the home..
This is outside the Charitable Constructors normal parameters. She is not a parishioner of St. Henry, or a Catholic – The home is in the Trinity Ln. area – She cannot pay for any part of the repairs.
But, let me assure you that it is unlikely that any of us will ever be as destitute as she. Our program was instituted to be of service to the folks that need it most and have the least amount of means. Her case is the epitome of those needs and I’m asking for your help to come to the aid of one of God’s desperate children.

If you have any questions email Stephen Brink at sbrink@comcast.net

Client Letter:

We wish to commend the Parish Council for including the very innovative and beneficial “Charitable Constructors” program in its Parish OUtreach. We acknowledge and thank the wonderful volunteer parishioners who participated in the repairs in our home recently. The repairs included replacing 200 square feet of floooring and 100 square feet of roofing. We specifically thank foreman Chris Williams, who did a very thorough job inspecting the damage on numerous occassions to carefully and accurately determine what plan of action to take and what materials to use. The workers were Christian by extending friendliness, considerate by being neat, and efficint by completing the work in a single day! Additionally, all the debris was hauled away! But best of all, the quality of the repairs is very professional. Thanks to this program, our long-overdue repairs are complete.

Appreciatively,

Dear Chris & Friends,

With Thanksgiving only a few short days away, it is easy for this family to count our many blessings. What a wonderful ministry the Charitable Constructors have been to us over the past few months. Through your generous gifts of time, talent, and treasure we know the power of God’s love first hand, and are keenly aware that angels like yourselves are bright lights in the midst of our lives.
